    GSG Series ISDN audio codecs

These are mains/battery operated ISDN audio codecs with inbuilt audio mixing panels. In outside broadcast applications these units will cater for 1, 2, 4, or 8 presenters at a remote broadcast location. The colour coded control layout is user friendly for non technical operators and the transportable case provides space for all cables and makes these units excellent fly away option. To partner this series there is a range of rack mount studio dial in units to complete the OB circuit to the studio.

    GSGC5G Portable Codec/Mixer                                          GSGC25 Portable Codec/Mixer

    GSGC8 ISDN  8 Channel Mixer

Our well known GSGC4&5 ISDN units are ideal for self operation by commentators and reporters but this new mixer is for use at larger sports events that boast the luxury of an operator. One main requirement was to keep this unit as small and lightweight as possible. The overall size is only 407 x 308 x 127 mm and the overall weight is only 5700 grams.

    ISDN FACILITIES
Using identical terminal adapter and codecs as developed for our GSGC4&5, all dialling, calling and software configurations are exactly the same. Any of the current four Glensound Codecs can be fitted, namely G722, APTX, DUAL (G722 & APTX), or MPEG Layer II which again is really a dual codec because it also operates at G722. An X21 port is fitted on the rear panel so that it is possible to feed an external TA or a satellite terminal.

    CHANNEL FACILITIES
Basically an eight channel mono mixer, all channels are Mic/Line switchable and have phantom power. Full length faders are fitted with simple momentary PFL buttons. EQ facilities consist of a switchable 12dB/octave high pass filter and a mid range bell shape control to provide +/- 10dB at either of two frequencies. Each channel also has a channel gain control as well as an auxiliary gain control feeding a separate auxiliary mix bus. An output toggle switch can route the channel output to compressor A or B or both.

    COMPRESSORS
Two independent compressors are provided so that one can be used for the commentators while the other can take care of the crowd effects. Each compressor has an adjustable threshold level of +/- 10db, a three position switch to set the recovery time as fast-auto-slow, and a second three position switch to set the compression ratio as 1, 5 or 10:1. the 1:1 position acts as a by-pass switch. Four LEDs are provided with each compressor to indicate the degree of compression.

    OUTPUTS
Available on jacks are individual outputs after the A & B compressors, a final mono output and the auxiliary output. In addition there is a full line drive capable of the final mono signal on an XLR.

    GS1U-050 TWIN G722/G711 SUBRACK

This new mains powered 1U subrack contains 2 completely independent G722/G711 Codecs and a twin Terminal Adapter.
A front panel keypad makes for easy dialling and set up of the codecs.
The terminal adapter is suitable for use on all ISDN networks and only requires an ‘S’ interface (the standard ISDN interface found throughout Europe).
Monitoring of the ISDN call is done via front panel LEDs and also an onboard loudspeaker. Relay loop closures are also made available via a rear panel ‘D’ connector for external indication of the 2 codecs framing status.
Audio inputs and outputs for the 2 Codecs are zero level balanced on rear panel XLRs.
The G722 codecs provide 7.5kHz of audio bandwidth and to ensure reliability and compatibility with other codecs statistical analyses is used for the frame alignment.
The G711 coding algorithm connects an ISDN line to a plain old telephone system (POTS), therefore this versatile subrack can be used instead of an old telephone balance unit, with the added advantage of 100% separation between the go and return circuits.

GS-MPI004 HD Broadcasters Mobile Phone with GS HD Voice 7.5kHz

The GS-MPI004 has been designed to finally solve once and for all the problems of using mobile phones for audio broadcast purposes.
Our engineers have excelled themselves with this design to make your life as a broadcaster easy, so if you want a reporter to do a quick interview in the high street, or need to use the phone network for 4 wire communications, or want a reliable back up circuit for a codec, or would like to connect a mixer to a phone or indeed for hundreds of other uses then the GS-MPI004 is for you.

To make broadcasting from anywhere in the World easy the GS-MPI004 has a QUAD BAND GSM interface allowing connectivity with most of the Worlds mobile phone networks and a SIM card holder accessible via the front panel to allow different network SIMs or roaming SIM cards to be quickly and easily fitted or changed.

Obviously a portable mobile phone like the GS-MPI004 is battery powered, to prevent it not being charged when you need to use it in a hurry it does not have internal rechargeable batteries but instead is powered from standard readily available AA cells.

What about quality? Because the GS-MPI004 has a digital GSM module the audio quality is the best you will ever get from a phone network. With the audio being in the digital domain separation between the go and return channels is 100% which far outperforms even the very best standard wired telephone hybrids. Our chief engineer has spent a long time perfecting the compressor/ limiter circuit and the audio input circuits to the phone network for you, the result means that you only need to roughly set the input level and the high quality electronics will make sure that your signal is sent without distortion to the studio. As you would expect from Glensound mechanically it is housed in a robust custom made aluminium case that is lightweight but extremely strong, so you don't need to worry if you drop it or bash it, it will keep working.

The amplifier is battery powered (with an external DC input available) and a front panel LED flashes when the battery needs replacing.

The audio input is via a rear panel XLR and can be set for either a Balanced mono input or unbalanced stereo input.

The headphone jack socket (accepts both A & B gauge) acts as a break for the Loudspeaker (i.e. if the headphones are plugged in then the loudspeaker is turned off).

    GS-PLI001 Line Ident

The GS-PLI001 is a small robust unit that provides line identification for a single audio channel.

It is a self contained battery operated unit.

A message of up to 16 seconds can be recorded from a front panel microphone.

On playback the recorded message is continuously looped to the output. If any of the 16 seconds is not used then a 1kHz tone at nominal zero level is automatically inserted.

    GS-SW001 Audio Switch

This is a very simple passive beltpack box. It is robust and lightweight.

It houses a high quality switch capable of silently switching mic signals (and line levels) on and off.

The switch (a lever key) has a momentary/ off/ latching action.

Two XLRs for audio input and output are provided.
